Well, here are some tips on how to beat the post-holiday blues, and getting yourself back on track after the holiday season. If you overindulged, and are feeling more bloated and guilty, try getting out of the house for a bit. You can take a walk, just stand by your front door, or visit a local coffee shop. Getting out of the house, and not just to go to work, prevents the feeling of having a mundane routine. Find a way to possibly combine it with interaction. Maybe smile and wave at someone walking by, or use a cashier instead of the self-checkout at Target.
Start cooking again. During the holiday season it’s easy to eat a lot of takeout and fast food while you’re rushing around. Plan what you’d like to make and prep for it on a day off. That way, on days you are working you don’t have to worry about thinking about what to make, taking everything out and getting it ready. You can also start thinking more about getting back to a well balanced diet.
Look forward instead of back. The holidays are fun to reminisce about for a little while, but don’t let it hold you back from enjoying all of the possibilities of a new year and a shiny, bright future. Remember to reach out if you need it. You are not alone.
