Resident Giving Tree

At times, there is an underappreciation of the needs of people who are living in assisted living or a nursing home. While their needs to maintain as much independence as possible is provided by formal staff, unfortunately, many residents live in a fixed income which will not allow additional needs to be purchased to enhance their comfort, bring joy, or become more connected with loved ones.

As the COVID-19 pandemic has progressed, families and friends of resident’s have not been able to visit to protect their health and well-being. As you can imagine, this strenuous caution has been difficult for everyone being disconnected from their family during times when family is more important than ever.

Shady Lane has identified a goal to enhance all resident’s holiday season in every way possible. Previous holidays, each resident created a wish list of items on an ornament for people to take and purchase the items. Unfortunately, this year will different; as a solution to the ever-growing barriers of the pandemic, Shady Lane is accepting general needed items for each resident, along with some fun activities and snacks. Each resident will get a bag filled to open near Christmas.

If you are looking for a way to give back this year, we are looking for donations. You can see the wish list items through Amazon here: https://a.co/eA55CZp or visit our website at shadylaneinc.com. Items bought through the Amazon Wish List can be sent to Attn: Giving Tree, 1235 S. 24th Street Manitowoc, WI 54220. Items purchased in person can be dropped off at our main entrance. We ask that donations be here no later than December 13th.

Please accept our sincere thanks and appreciation for considering donating to Shady Lane. We cannot do what we do without this generous community.

As you know, Shady Lane is Manitowoc’s only private, citizen-directed, nonprofit senior living campus with assisted living, rehab, skilled nursing, and memory care. We would not be able to take strides in many improvements and projects we believe are so important to our residents without the community’s generosity, and for that, we wish to express our deepest gratitude.
