After conducting routine testing on staff and residents three times over the last few weeks, we have recently learned that an employee at Shady Lane has tested positive for COVID-19. The person is currently in quarantine in accordance with the procedures and protocols established by the CDC and the Department of Health.
We cannot comment on the specifics around the person’s condition but can confirm that we are working in close coordination with local health officials to follow the protocols in place to halt and minimize the spread of the virus. The person will continue to be monitored.
Shady Lane has been extremely proactive over the past few months to ensure that we would be prepared to support anyone impacted by the virus. We have communicated with our staff to reinforce safety protocols and continue to follow each of them and remain focused on the safety of our staff and residents. We have kept a close eye on our stock of critical supplies, such as personal protective equipment, which is vital to keeping our staff and residents safe when in contact with someone affected by the virus. We have also created a separate unit, if needed, with designated staff to care for any residents that would be diagnosed with COVID-19.
The health and safety of our staff and residents are our top priorities. We are committed to evaluating our own policies and making necessary adjustments to maximize their safety. We have contacted all team members, residents, and their families at Shady Lane with this information. We encouraged these individuals to continue monitoring for COVID-19 symptoms.
We have been in close contact with the local health department throughout this process and will continue to work with them moving forward. We are following the instructed guidelines to maintain the health and safety of both our residents and staff. We encourage everyone to take the necessary precautions recommended by the CDC and public health officials to prevent the spread of this pandemic.
As always, our focus remains on providing our residents with exceptional services. To continue to keep the residents safe, our Drive-By Resident Parade, scheduled for July 2, has been canceled and we will continue to restrict visitations. Drop-offs are still acceptable. We encourage you to call our Director of Nursing at 920-682-8254 ext. 3170 with any questions.
